BEFORE SURGERY
- Don’t take aspirin for 10 days or drink any alcoholic beverages for 2 days before
your scheduled Mohs Surgery appointment.
- Don’t forget to discontinue any medications that you have been instructed to stop
taking.
- Arrange for someone to drive you home after the surgery.
THE DAY OF SURGERY
- Eat a normal breakfast.
- Take all medications you normally take except for any you may have
been instructed to discontinue.
- After washing as usual in the morning, do not apply anything (such as
a moisturizer or sunscreen) to the surgery site or surrounding area.
- Women should not wear any make-up (including lipstick or eye
make-up) or jewelry.
- Come in relaxed and ready to spend the day. Bring something you enjoy
doing to occupy your waiting time (e.g., a book, knitting, or music cassettes—we have
a cassette player you may use).
AFTER SURGERY
- Make sure you are given written wound care instructions before you leave.
- Have someone drive you home. Relax and take the rest of the day off.
- Don’t plan any out of town trips for at least 10 days after our surgery.
- Don’t take aspirin or drink alcohol for 7 days after your surgery.
- Return to the office for your appointments as instructed.
